Temporary Part-Time Education Program Assistant

POSITION PURPOSE: 

The Part-Time Education Program Assistant leads and supports interdisciplinary and experiential programming for Afterschool Experiences. Reporting to the Education Program Manager, this position is a critical part of the Education and Exhibits Team. Please note this is a temporary position set to end on May 31, 2025.

POSITION SUMMARY: 

  • Work with a team to implement interdisciplinary Afterschool Experiences for youth ages 5-7 of all skills, experience, and physical ability levels 

  • Prepare and assist with gathering and creating supplies for afterschool experiences  

  • Utilize best practices in experiential education and interactive museum experiences 

  • Participate in a culture of reflection and evaluation through peer review and team program design processes

  • During school vacation weeks, assist with visitor programming for daily visitors

  • Support CMTM’s Strategic Plan and Goals through actions as identified by the team and supervisor

  • Perform other duties as identified by supervisor

POSITION REQUIREMENTS: 

  • Experience leading informal education programming 

  • Experience working with children ages 2-12

  • Experience in child development and/or education preferred

  • Experience in classroom management preferred

  • Comfortable speaking and engaging with groups of people of various ages 

  • Comfort in a fast-paced environment 

  • Ability to stand for up to two hours at a time

  • Ability to lift up to 25 pounds

  • ESOL Level 4+

  • Comfortable with email, Google suite, and Microsoft office suite

  • Proven time management skills

  • Ability to work as a team player

  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to engage in a mature, friendly, and positive way with all youth and their families

  • Passion for teaching and learning

SCHEDULE: 

10 hours per week 

Tuesday 12:45-5:45 (5 hours) Wednesdays 12:45-5:45 (5 hours)

The position begins as soon as possible and ends on 5/31/2025. 

COMPENSATION

$17.87 / hour

CMTM has an equitable system of pay that offers a base rate based on position, longevity pay increases over time, merit-based raise opportunities, and cost of living base wage updates. This system is designed for equity, and as such, we do not have the ability to negotiate the compensation listed above.
