Construction Update on Our Future Home at Thompson's Point

I am very glad to be able to write and share a few incredibly exciting project updates with you. The Children’s Museum & Theatre of Maine’s new home on Thompson’s Point is still under construction, but is quickly coming together under the steady guidance of a phenomenal project management team. We offer immeasurable gratitude to all those whose wonderful gifts and support have made it all possible.

To date, the Imagine Campaign has raised a staggering $13.3 million – $700,000 remaining to reach our goal of $14 million!! Over two hundred donors – individuals, corporations, foundations and federal and local government funding entities – have come together to build this joyful place for all children and families.

We are thrilled, grateful, and honored to announce that The Lunder Foundation has recently committed an incredibly generous challenge match to help us reach the finish line. With this challenge, every campaign gift up to $500,000 will be doubled! Their matching gift will be allocated to CMTM’s endowment fund, supporting the sustainability of our organization for generations to come. In recognition of this wonderful commitment, the arts and culture gallery on the second floor of our new building will be named The Lunder Arts & Culture Gallery.

Construction is moving along swiftly and the project is now over 60 percent complete! You might notice from the highway that the metal shingles are almost fully attached around the building. The team at Thompson's Point is building a brand new road around the property and sidewalks are going in soon. We are starting to install frames for our huge storefront windows and the actual windows will go in toward the end of this month. The elevator is complete, and drywall is starting to be installed on all floors of the building. Our state-of-the-art HVAC system is well on its way to completion as well. Last but not least, our large outdoor sign, which will be illuminated and visible from the highway, will go up the first week of October. There is so much to be excited about!
