A free, outdoor event on the Children’s Museum & Theatre of Maine’s Gather Lawn on October 2, 2021 from 9 am-4pm, sponsored by Hood on the occasion of their 175th Anniversary. Activities will include a community food drive, ice cream sandwich giveaways, and a whipped cream science education station. Feeding Maine Families Day raises awareness about families and children experiencing hunger in Maine, highlights initiatives to combat childhood hunger, and promotes food science education in a playful way.
All visitors to the Museum & Theatre, customers of other businesses on Thompson’s Point, and residents of the Libbytown Neighborhood are encouraged to participate in this free event. Please note, visitors must still pay for parking if driving to Thompson’s Point.
This event is made possible in partnership with Hood, Preble Street Resource Center, The Locker Project, and Public School Food Services from both Portland and Westbrook. Thompson’s Point businesses Rosemont Market, Rwanda Bean Coffee, Stroudwater Distillery, and Color Me Mine will be generously providing coupons for all to donate to the community Food Drive.
