Meet real sea creatures like sea stars and anemones, create a sea star wand in MakerSpace, and stop by the snack shack for a summer-themed treat. Then, countdown to 2025 with a special interactive performance and Sea Star Drop in CMTM’s Maddy’s Theatre!

Gather, sing, and celebrate the return of light with an outdoor solstice celebration on the CMTM Gather Lawn! Create a celestial puppet in the Atrium, then join the group sing-along outside. Enjoy a performance featuring Shoestring Theatre's large sculptural sun and moon puppets.

Celebrate Halloween with a silly & not-so-scary party ideal for ages 0 to 4 and their caregivers. This event is free for members; reservations are required to guarantee admission. Festivities wrap up at 11 am; CMTM remains open for free play from 11 am - 4 pm.

Come and meet owl ambassadors with Center for Wildlife educators. These non-releasable owls provide a unique opportunity to discover this diverse species of New England owls, their habitats, diets, and calls, and learn tips on how to spot them in the wild. You are invited to After Dark Halloween, CMTM's night-time event, and boo-bash, just for grown-ups. After Dark is an adults-only after-hours event that includes access to three floors of exhibits, activities, refreshments, and fun for those 21+. Proceeds from After Dark support CMTM's Community Fund, helping to open the door to all children and families.

The Children's Museum & Theatre of Maine will be closing on Thursday, October 24, at 12 noon to prepare for After Dark Halloween.

Portland Ballet will be showing a sneak peek of their family-friendly Halloween-inspired ballet performed by students of the Senior and Pre-Professional Divisions . Halloween-inspired dances combined with eerie classical music is a performance that is not too scary and ideal for all ages.
