Casting Call for Bicentennial Edition of WCTM Newscast By Kids for Kids
To recognize the State of Maine’s 200th birthday, we have planned four more episodes of WCTM Newscast By Kids For Kids. These four new episodes will celebrate Maine history through several different topics:
Environmental Sustainability,
Maine before 1820,
Towns and Cities, and
Arts and Culture.
With generous support from the Maine Bicentennial Commission, WCTM Newscast Bicentennial Edition is designed to make history accessible to children of all ages.
Finished newscasts will be available on-demand at no cost to teachers throughout Maine to use as educational materials in virtual or physical classrooms.
Kid Newscast is inviting students between the ages of 8 and 14 to join our news crew and participate, free of charge. The roles to fill are:
behind-the-scenes researchers,
news anchors,
interviewers,
special investigators, and
historical re-enactors.
Facilitated by theatre educators, the news crew will meet on ZOOM weekly throughout the fall. Orientation for all newscast members occurs September 1st at 4:30pm.
Meetings begin in earnest on September 8th and meet weekly through December 17th. Episodes of the news show will be released at the end of every month.
News crew teams will not meet on Federal or state-observed holidays.
Please note: like all our theatre programs, it is FREE to participate in our Kid News Program.
