BUSES AND PIGEONS AND MUSICALS, OH MY!

Thanks to our friends and “Don't Let The Pigeon Drive The Bus! The Musical!” show sponsor Greater Portland METRO, pigeons are all over the Greater Portland area.

In anticipation of the show's premiere Friday, January 13, 2023, we asked Greater Portland METRO some hard-hitting questions about buses, hot dogs, and, ultimately, if we should let the pigeon drive the bus.

See their answers below and remember that you can ride a bus to Thompson's Point and the Children's Museum & Theatre of Maine by catching the Breeze, Route 1, 5, and 9A/9B.

See our blog about taking the bus to CMTM HERE.

METRO INTERVIEW

QUESTION 1

CMTM: Where can people spot pigeons on buses and shelters?

METRO: Pigeons are really trying to drive bus numbers 1104, 1402, 1403, 1404, and you can find them waiting for buses at Thompson's Point, Two Monument Square, and across from the Barron Center. If you see one, please remind them that they are not allowed to drive the bus!

QUESTION 2

CMTM: Why is Greater Portland METRO excited to sponsor “Don't Let The Pigeon Drive The Bus!”?

METRO At METRO, we understand that kids who are excited about buses and other public transit are more likely to develop into adults who are excited to use transit, not only on their daily commutes but also when visiting new cities.

QUESTION 3

CMTM: What do you like on your hot dog?

METRO: Ketchup, but please don't hold that against us. We like a little raw onion too.

QUESTION 4

CMTM: Where should people go to learn about riding the bus, and how much is a child fare?

METRO: All the information you need to learn about riding the bus can be found at www.gpmetro.org. Adult fare is $2, and kids ages six-17 ride for $1. The best part: Kids ages five and under ride for free!

QUESTION 5

CMTM: Why do you think people should come to the show?

METRO: All shows at the Children's Museum & Theatre of Maine's Maddy's Theatre are so much fun! But we think this one will be especially great because there will be more buses on stage than most other shows. METRO may even take kids on a quick bus ride after some shows!

FINAL QUESTION

CMTM: Should we let the pigeon drive the bus?

METRO: While METRO is hiring drivers, we should not let the pigeon drive the bus. At least not until he gets properly licensed.
