Auditions for Young Actors: Dragons Love Tacos

Based on the book by Adam Rubin
Adapted for the stage by Ernie Nolan
Directed by Emily M. Dixon

This deliciously funny live version of a favorite book is an unforgettable tale of new friends and the perfect snack that will make you laugh until spicy salsa comes out of your nose. Dragons love tacos. They love chicken tacos, beef tacos, great big tacos, and teeny tiny tacos. So if you want to lure a bunch of dragons to your party, you should definitely serve tacos. Buckets and buckets of tacos. Unfortunately, where there are tacos, there is also salsa. And if a dragon accidentally eats spicy salsa ... oh, boy. You’re in red-hot trouble.

Maddy’s Theatre is looking to cast four young actors ages 10-16 of any identity to share the roles of KID and LEROY.

  • Kid is a little shy and hesitant to host a party with some dragons

  • Leroy is a dog who is energetic and clever, they encourage and guide the Kid

Maddy’s Theatre requires all actors to be vaccinated. Actors will work closely with the Director and Adult Actors to bring the production to life. Actors will attend rehearsals together and are responsible for learning their lines and blocking. Performances will be split between the two casts.

Auditions will be held Monday, March 7 from 5:30-6:30pm and Tuesday, March 8 from 6-7pm. Auditions will be group auditions consisting of theatre games and cold reads from the script. Please wear a mask and clothes you’re comfortable moving in.

Interested actors may sign up for auditions via the Actor Submission Form and a member of the Maddy’s Theatre Team will be in touch to confirm a time.

Rehearsals begin the week of March 14th.
Performances run April 15 through May 15 in Maddy’s Theatre.
Tentative Production Calendar

This is a rigorous performance schedule, and we ask that actors are ready to commit to demands of the calendar. There is a possibility of adding performances within the dates of the production run, based on audience demand.
