There are so many kinds of maps all around us! Maps help us find our way home, discover treasure, and explore new places. Have you ever wanted to create your own world or capture a real place on paper? Whether it’s another planet, a magical Maine island, or an animal’s underground home, maps can help us travel to real & imaginary destinations.
In partnership with the Osher Map Library & Smith Center for Cartographic Education, join us for a deeper dive into map-making. With past maps from the Osher Map Contest on display for inspiration & by using measuring tools & art supplies, we will learn about size & scale, how to create a legend or key, and the variety of ways to create a detailed map that tells a story. What kind of map will you create? Where will it take you? This program is best for ages 6 and up.
