We are excited to announce WCTM Newscast: By Kids For Kids, a news program celebrating kids, community, and the positive news happening around the state during this time of social distancing. Spotlighting kids as helpers, organizations that are helping kids, and the great things neighbors are doing for each other, each episode of By Kids For Kids Newscast brings a healthy dose of good news to Mainers.

Actors between the ages of 8 and 15 take the lead as anchors, meteorologists, and hosts. The news team will help pick news stories to feature and conduct interviews to create the feel-good media content we all crave. As the longest running children’s theatre in the country, the Children’s Theatre has featured ‘by kids for kids’ theatre for almost a century. By Kids For Kids Newscast aligns with this core value of our organization.

If you know someone who is making the world a better place during the pandemic, please nominate a community hero today. We’d love to hear their story! Good deeds can be specific to the coronavirus outbreak and feature activities such as mask making for frontline workers, shopping for elderly neighbors, or teachers rocking that at-home teaching. Or, stories can focus on community members who are using their time at home to create some positive impact-- big or small-- that doesn’t necessarily relate to the healthcare crisis. Interested in being a newscaster? If you're between the ages of 8 and 15, enjoying talking to new people, and have some extra time on your hands, we would love for you to join our newscasting team. Each news anchor will go through an orientation process with other co-anchors to prepare. Once anchors are ready, they will be given Zoom interview assignments.
