Intro To Map Making (Ages 5 - 12)

  • The Children's Museum & Theatre of Maine 250 Thompsons Point Rd Portland, ME, 04102 United States (map)

There are so many kinds of maps, all around us!  Maps help us find our way home, discover treasure, and explore new places. Have you ever wanted to create your own world or capture a real place on paper? Whether it’s another planet, a magical Maine island, or a cozy hideout, maps can help us travel to new places.

Join CMTM educators for a deep dive into map-making.  With special hand-made maps on display in partnership with the Osher Map Library, we will learn about size & scale, how to create a legend or key, and the variety of ways to create a map. We recommend this activity for ages 5-12 .  What kind of map will you create? Where will it take you?
