Alumni Spotlight: Meet Jared Mongeau!
Jared Mongeau made his stage debut with the Children’s Theatre of Maine at Marginal Way in 2002, and has now made his way back to star in Dragons Love Tacos in Maddy’s Theatre! By age 10, Jared was a trouper with Circus Smirkus, then spent his teen years apprenticing under clown and vaudevillian Michael Trautman before joining the Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey’s Circus. He attended Dell’Arte International School of Physical Theatre in California and studied traditional mask carving and performance in Bali, Indonesia. Just like his character in Dragons Love Tacos, he wholeheartedly believes that "with a little drive and determination, amazing things can happen!" Meet Maddy's Theatre Intern: Alyssa Pearl Ross!
Alyssa joined the Maddy’s Theatre team in January and has been diligently working in all aspects of theatre creation and development while being a full-time student at the University of Southern Maine! Alyssa’s own theatre career started when she was 9 years old, and she’s currently in her senior year studying Theatre Performance and Dance at the University of Southern Maine. In this blog, learn more about Alyssa’s perspective of growing up a “theatre kid” and how her experience working with Maddy’s Theatre is preparing her for a career in the theatre field after graduation.

You're Invited To A Taco Party!
Everyone is welcome to the Taco Party in this deliciously funny live version of a favorite book that will make you laugh until spicy salsa comes out of your nose. Dragons Love Tacos is an unforgettable tale of new friends, celebrating who you are, and (of course), the perfect snack. Director Emily M. Dixon reflects on the process of bringing this story to life on the Maddy’s Theatre stage as both a wonderfully silly predicament with some wonderfully silly dragons, and as an open invitation of acceptance to children and families of all identities.

Raising Readers and Children's Museum and Theatre of Maine Partner on Children's Book Exhibit
The Children’s Museum & Theatre of Maine and the Raising Readers program at Maine Health announce the installation of the “Little Beaver and Echo” exhibit at the Museum & Theatre’s location on Thompson’s Point. The illustrated pages are mounted along the indoor route that families take to enter the Maine Watershed Aquarium; there visitors can also see a beaver specimen from the Museum & Theatre’s collection on display and learn about its habitat and lifeways.

Visiting Artist Series: Roberta March
As the second in the Visiting Artist Series at the Children’s Museum & Theatre of Maine, Roberta March will facilitate a communal art project. Visitors to the Makerspace will be invited to use markers and art supplies to create designs, patterns and pictures on individual wood pieces. These decorated pieces will be added to a communal, large-scale wooden butterfly mosaic. The butterfly was chosen for this project because it is a species endangered and impacted by climate change, and a symbol of hope and change.

Staff Spotlight: Kifah Abdulla
Kifah Abdulla is a Play Assistant at the Museum & Theatre. As an artist, Kifah encourages visitors to just start making art. He points out, “There are no mistakes in art, no right or wrong. Creativity is not just a product but a process.” He reflects on the mural activities he has led at CMTM and the confidence of children who participate, and how children’s art is imitated by the masters.

Flying Colors: 2022 Benefit Art Auction will welcome event participants on Friday, May 13, from 6pm to 9pm. Guests young at heart will have the opportunity to explore all 3 floors of exhibits, participate in fun art activities, bid on exceptional pieces of art by local Maine artists, and enjoy delicious food and drinks. For the first time this Benefit Auction will take place within the Museum & Theatre building itself, providing a rare chance for adults to explore the building and at the same time discover the amazing work by local Maine artists, displayed through the building.
