Hear from Portland Public School Students as they share their drawings and see how you can make a doodle that will be displayed on the walls of the new building.

It's a winner-take-all sorcery contest between two sibling wizards, and with a little help from parents in advance of the show, magic will happen in your own home. 

A short list of items and simple instructions on where to place them sets the stage for the sorcery, and during the performance, the battling wizards perform magic which sends kids on a treasure hunt. The panel of kid judges vote to determine—once and for all—who the best wizard is on Oakwood Drive!

Eight children at a time participate from all over the world…all you need is a wifi connection and a few household items to make the wizardry happen.

PARENTS ARE ACCOMPLICES TO THE SORCERY!

You’ll hide everyday items around your home to bring this magical adventure to life. Most or all of these you’ll probably already have, and simple instructions will be provided for the setup.

Community Day of the Dead/Día de los Muertos Altar

Day of the Dead/Día de los Muertos is here! This Mexican holiday is celebrated by many in Maine and around the world from the 31st of October to the 2nd of November.  It is a festive holiday that honors deceased loved ones. In this short video Laura Urtuzuastegui, co-owner of El Corazon Restaurante, shares about Día de los Muertos and our community altar.All are invited to celebrate together by contributing to this community altar at Portland Restaurante El Corazon (190 State St, Portland, ME) . Bring a picture or a favorite object that reminds you of a loved one passed or pick up a candle from restaurant co-owner Laura Urtuzuastegui. Take the candle home and decorate it with words and pictures that remind you of the people who have passed on in your life. Once decorated, you can contribute it to the community altar. Join us to fill our community with light.

Even her brother came along, even though they didn’t want him to come. Let’s see what happens in this page turning crime drama.

Kid Newscaster Evangeline had such a great time interviewing our friend Vanessa Berry, an educator at ecomaine, and learned so much. Today, we are sharing our extended cut of the interview so you can learn about the history of recycling, and what you can do to create a better future.  Our Bicentennial program features Maine History and how it relates to Maine now and Maine in the future, reported by kids.

Travel with our students as they meet a farmhand from the 1940s, a stone wall builder from the 1800s, a peddler hoping to trade and a teenage mill worker in our first episode of WCTM: Bicentennial Edition.
